The RT Division handles

  1. The administrative, financial and other matters of
    1. the autonomous organizations of the MoEF i.e.,
      1. Indian Council of Forestry Research & Education (ICFRE), Dehradun (except establishment matters)
      2. Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal (including establishment matters)
      3. Indian Plywood Industries Research and Training Institute (IPIRTI), Bangalore ( including establishment matters)
    2. sub-ordinate offices i.e.,
      1. Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA), Dehradun (except establishment matters)
      2. Directorate of Forest Education (DFE), Dehradun (except establishment matters)

  2. Following Capacity Building Programmes:-
    1. Training of IFS Officers
    2. Training of Personnel of Other Services
    3. Training of Other Stakeholders
    4. Foreign Training of Forestry Personnel
    5. Capacity Development for Forest Management and Training of Personnel (Externally Aided Project)

     
  3. Other miscellaneous matters concerning Forestry Research & Training
    1. Administrative approval to externally aided projects related to forestry research submitted by experts/different ministries.
    2. Foreign collaboration, on forestry research related matters and connected visits/study tours of foreigners, foreign visits of IFS officers working in institutes/organizations under the administrative control of this division.
    3. Training of foreign candidates in India under different assistance programmes including ad-hoc training requests in the institutes under the administrative control of RT Division.
    4. Co-ordination with agriculture universities and other related scientific/technical bodies.
    5. Scrutiny of research projects/proposals on forestry problems and other technical references.
    6. Liaison with other ministries/organizations of the Government of India on issues connected with forestry research and training.

Administrative setup

The work of Research and Training (RT) Division is handled by Deputy Inspector General of Forests (RT) supported by AIGF (RT), Technical Officer, Research Investigator and other staff. The DIGF (RT) reports to Addl. Director General of Forests (FC).
